Enterprise Security Awareness and Training Program
The statewide security training and awareness program addresses a wide range of needs from general staff awareness to specific training for information security professionals.
A key component of the training program is a process to provide appropriate levels of information security training for the staff directly responsible for security.
Such training focuses on developing skills in relevant technologies and techniques that will improve agencies' security posture.
A user security and awareness-training program assists state agencies in preserving the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of state information resources.
Using the results from agency training surveys and other agency feedback to help plan training events and working with universities, like NCSU, to determine what resources they can provide, a program of activities has been developed.
It supports both technical security training materials and an enterprise wide user awareness program.
The training and awareness program includes a variety of materials, such as some actual hands-on training as well as web based online interactive modules.
The training materials are designed to be reusable in order to continue the training into subsequent years.
An annual security conference for state government employees is conducted each spring.
The State works with other states through the Department of Homeland Security/Multi State Information Sharing and Analysis Center, (DHS/MSISAC) to identify training and awareness resources that are available at little or no cost for use by state agencies.
Training and education need to be ongoing activities.
Some training resources provided to agencies include SECURITYsense newsletter, Frontline Newsletter, and scheduled training events
